A musical recommendation if I may since I see quite a bit of Jazz on the list:
Charles Mingus- Ah Um as an introductory album with shorter songs. Classic tracks like Fables for Faubus, (written about Gov. Faubus who refused to integrate schools in Arkansas).
I also love and have been listening to Cumbia and Jazz Fusion by Mingus. It is a 30min orchestral style composition with one of the best openings and call and response compositions in jazz.

Really enjoyed reading about and the photos of your trek through Big Bear, I lived there for three years when I was in high school many years ago, but it’s still so beautiful and seemingly untouched, It was nice to revisit through your post. Looking forward to the following chapters.
